Job Description

Do you want to be responsible for the 'heartbeat' of the e-commerce business for GSI Commerce's 80+ retail partners? The Product Management team is looking for someone to optimize the checkout process. The Product Manager will identify and execute on strategies that enhance the value of the GSI ecommerce and marketing services platform to its customer base, while improving GSI Commerce's competitive positioning and market share. The successful candidate will work with cross functional teams in planning, developing and implementing new initiatives and advancing the GSI platform. S/he will be responsible for refining, enhancing and executing the product roadmap for his/her strategic area of focus.

The Product Manager will be responsible for collaborating with business analysts in delivering clear and complete product requirement to the development team. The candidate will be responsible for the successful implementation and deployment of products through the beta process into general availability. S/he will maintain and deliver the collateral and documentation that drives product adoption by clients by minimizing implementation costs.

The Product Manager will be responsible for defining and measuring the key metrics associated with the product. The candidate will inform enhancements to the product by conducting competitive analysis, coordinating usability studies, measuring performance of the product, and soliciting external feedback from consumers and clients. S/he will ultimately be accountable for the on time/on-strategy deployment and adoption of the product across the GSI client base. This includes managing the scope of the product, communicating the product features and value to internal and external business stakeholders, and collaborating with the technology teams to manage business issues and priorities to ensure budget and deadline adherence.

The Product Manager will serve as the subject matter expert for the checkout and purchase channel. In addition the candidate will serve as the primary contact and frontline support to help research and resolve issues as they occur, manage 3rd party relationships associated with the order experience, and coordinate communication between GSI, clients, and 3rd parties.


Experience - External

The Product Manager will have a successful track record of managing products and services, ideally in e-commerce, business intelligence, catalog management, content management, or in a comparable fast-moving technology category. The successful candidate will be extremely effective at driving projects to completion, and producing supporting product documentation and materials.

The candidate should have experience working with analytics packages and outputs from usability studies and industry research.

The candidate must have the ability to successfully juggle multiple projects and be effective at influencing a wide range of groups within a company. It is important that he or she quickly establishes credibility with the internal technology team, partner account management teams and with external clients.


Additional requirements include

  • Technical/Quantitative Undergraduate Degree
  • Experience in professional services/client services
  • 3+ years experience in Product Management / Project Management at an e-commerce/Internet company
  • Proven track record driving a product from ideation through launch and post-launch analysis
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation and negotiation)
  • Excellent relationship building skills with internal business and technical teams, as well as external clients/vendors and prospects
  • Exceptional project management skills in a technical domain along with an ability to successfully juggle multiple projects and manage changing priorities
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to think strategically and execute tactically
  • Very comfortable using web analytics tools and accountable for web conversion metrics
  • Comfortable reviewing architectural and application designs and participating in product evaluations
