Background
The Content Marketing team is responsible for online marketing activities that promote Open Text’s products, services both through the Corporate Web site and online user communities. This position extends the company’s ability to drive and support the company's continued growth. The Manager of Technical Marketing will be responsible for managing Open Text’s demonstration development group, and will take care of the production of content and support required for successful lead generation programs, sales campaigns and product definition and technical sales demonstrations. They will collect and manage internal and external input to create compelling demonstrations and online content assets that accelerate the sales cycle.
The Technical Marketing Manager is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of demos and online content assets while interfacing with peers supporting specific functions such as Sales, Solutions Consulting, Services and Development.
This position requires an independent person who is self-motivated and able to drive their own contribution, be a key member of the Marketing team while managing multiple projects and initiatives in a services environment with multiple stakeholders.
Position Objective
The position will be working extremely closely with the key Lines of Business, Product Management, Partner and Solution Consulting groups. Its primary roles will involve managing the ongoing execution of the Go-to-Market strategies for Content Marketing, and the definition and execution of a rich demonstration program within Open Text. The position will also provide ongoing support, development and further extension of Open Text’s Know Zone demonstration brand in the context of an ECM suite.
The role will be of global focus and will report in to the Director of Content Marketing. The position is not restricted to a particular geography, but a certain amount of travel will be expected.
The position has a large influence on the success of the Go-to-Market process within the CM and SC and other field groups. It also provides a measurable impact on Open Text being differentiated as solutions focused organisation and realising our Balanced Scorecard objective of “demonstration”.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Experience Required
- Significant experience working in customer facing environment in either a pre-sales or product marketing role
- Strong interpersonal skills and customer orientation
- Previously demonstrated effective presentation and communication ability
- 2+ years team management experience
Required Knowledge
- Solid understanding of the business problems faced by Open Text’s customer base, and an excellent ability to create and articulate business solutions to those problems
- In depth understanding of the Livelink ECM solutions suite, in particular the Livelink Enterprise Server and Records Management offerings
- Excellent knowledge of web based standards such as XML, XSL, RSS, HTML & CSS preferred
- Knowledge of VMware highly desirable
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Able to work and present comfortably in front of large customer groups
- Proficient in using MS Project, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and online meeting/learning tools
- Culturally sensitive
- Well-connected within the Open Text consultant and partner communities
- Must be self motivated and used to working with limited direct supervision
- Exceptional organizational skills required to manage multiple concurrent projects
Summary of Duties
- Manage the execution of the Go-To-Market strategy
- Design and develop ECM suite demonstration material for use by Solution Consultants, Partners and other field teams to support sales and events
- Support the creation and evolution of scripted solution demonstration presentations
- Support Open Text’s VMware demonstration program
- Provide business-focussed backgrounds to support the development of demonstration scenarios
- Delivery of solution and scenario focused training
- Deliver high-level product demonstrations at industry and customer forums to showcase key elements of the Open Text solution
- Co-ordinate with lines of business and regional Field Marketing managers to support launch activities and key marketing campaigns
- Assist in definition and implementation of Go-to-Market strategies and tracking metrics
- Work with Marketing and other field groups to create and deliver a rich demonstration toolkit, which can be used to showcase Open Text’s solutions and advantages
- Responsible for working with Lines of Business toward the definition and execution of solution focussed demo strategies
- Work with the Solution Consulting group and assist in the creation and implementation of a coordinated global Solution Consultant enablement plan
- Work with the Partner group to assist in the delivery of solution focussed demonstration and enablement material
Manage and develop staff
- Work with Director, Content Marketing to prioritize the work pipeline
- Recruit, interview, provide orientation, and training for key staff
- Provide regular staff appraisals
- Support the development and retention of key staff
- Build team knowledge base by working with the solutions consultants, development, and services to coordinate the contribution of deliverables
- Provide mentorship to staff
- Monitor and maintain relationships with the team of consultants to support their professional growth and productivity
Working Conditions
Office environment located within easy reach of an Open Text hub office, with regular business hours from 9:00am – 5:30pm ET. Work outside of these hours will be necessary due to time zones of customers and project schedules and deadlines. Travel of up to around 30% is expected. Must be the most comfortable while working in a virtual team.
