Now in its 9th year, Pragmatic Marketing conducts this annual survey of product management and marketing professionals to understand the role they play in today's technology companies.

What does a "day-in-the-life" look like? How are product managers and marketers compensated? What activities take up the majority of a typical week?

The Strategic Role of Product Management When Development Goes Agile
By Steve Johnson and Luke Hohmann

For years, product management seems to be have been defined by what it is not as much as what it is. Developers and engineers often see product managers as technical resources, to be used for project management. Agile development methods seem to have made this orientation even worse, with product managers getting pulled into deeper tactical, technical activities.

 You Can't Innovate Like Apple

Do You Have a Plan to Win in a Down Economy?

Tuned In When a downturn in the economy hits, all companies are affected. The only question is... how to react?

Companies often go into slashing mode, cutting the wrong things and positioning themselves weaker than when they started. Why? Because they make decisions based on the past and not the future.

Without a complete and accurate view of current strengths and weaknesses, companies guess, assuming they know best. Then tell the world they've made the changes that will keep them healthy through this downturn. In reality they have no idea whether it is true.

We want to hear from you!

In December, we will be publishing an e-book on Winning in a Down Economy: A Pragmatic Guide to Getting Tuned In. It will cover the top 10 things you should be spending your time on right now to prepare for a healthy 2009 and beyond.

Complete this short survey about your company's current initiatives, and your results will be included in our findings.

What are you doing to win in a down economy?
