Cost of Language Translation
What is the best way to handle the costs and schedules for language translations? Should it be the responsibility of the Country Manager or Corporate Development to subsidize the translation costs for a new language?
Like any other significant investment, it needs a business case. Why are we doing it, who is the target, what problems are we solving, what is the revenue potential, what will it cost, how does it fit our strategic direction and distinctive competence? Who funds it should depend on the goals of the investment. If it's a strategic play (such as penetrating new markets), it should probably come from corporate development. If it's to close a deal, it should probably come from the Country Manager. Without more context however, it's difficult to give a more detailed answer.
