Defining Two Roles of Product Marketing Manager

My organization has both Product Management department and a Marketing department, where the obvious debate is the place of the Product Marketing Manager (PMM). My question is whether there is a way to split the PMM role into two roles, where the first satisfy the tactical tasks of the Product Management department, and the second satisfy the tactical tasks of the Marketing department?

We often see product management split into three roles: a business or strategy role, a go-to-market role, and a technical role.
Go here "The Product Management Triad" for more information on the three roles.

In the end, your team needs to define who needs to know what product information and how it is best distributed. Having a technical product manager doesn't mean that the product marketing manager is off the hook on product knowledge. Everyone with product responsibility needs to understand the product.
