Seminar FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Choosing the right seminar
I am not a product manager. Do you have seminars for me?
Yes, we do. Please review the seminar list to see which one best fits your learning objectives. Our market-driven, practical approach to product management and marketing is designed to make your job easier, whether you are a start-up or Fortune 500.
I am not working at a software company, can I still benefit from attending the seminars? How much of the seminar discusses software and how much other technology products?
Our seminars focus on the principals of solving problems for the market, and these solutions may include any combination of hardware, software, and services. We prefer to think of companies as being in the "technology problem-solving business," delivering software, hardware and/or services to create a complete customer solution. While most of our attendees come from software companies, those with hardware-only, services-only, and hardware/software combination products confirm the seminars address their needs. (A few have commented we do not get into the hardware-only aspects of product management such as component design and selection or using focus groups to evaluate prototypes.)
Most of the seminar examples represent business-to-business software with a direct sales force but we also talk about some special aspects of selling services and consumer products, both direct and through multi-tier distribution. In addition, some consumer product examples are provided as they are easily understood by a varied group of attendees.
I am an executive. Should I attend the seminar with my staff?
It is strongly recommended. By attending with your staff, you're showing support for this market-driven methodology and will help build a stronger team.
Do you conduct international seminars?
Currently, public seminars are only conducted in the United States and Canada. However, we do conduct onsite seminars around the world. Please contact us or call (480) 515-1411 for more information.
Should I attend the Practical Product Management seminar prior to Requirements That Work?
Product managers who write requirements should attend Practical Product Management first. Others who review requirements, such as developers, architects and business analysts, need only attend Requirements That Work.
Is there any reading or preparatory work required before attending the seminars?
No preparation is needed prior to attending the seminars. Our two-day sessions have a short evening reading assignment after the first day to prepare for a case study review on the second day. Laptops are not required.
Seminar logistics
Is there a registration cut-off date?
We recommend registering as soon as possible; our seminars fill up quickly. We can usually accommodate last minute registrations, if seats are available, but recommend you wait for your confirmation e-mail before making travel arrangements, in the event a seminar has sold out.
Can I be wait-listed for a sold-out seminar?
Yes, we wait-list attendees for sold-out sessions.
I am not ready to register, yet. Can you reserve a seat for me?
